Performed in the Saudi Arabia Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre
Dr. Sondos Samargandy, Interventional Cardiologist and Head of the Cath Lab at Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
A 64-year-old female patient with multiple comorbidities, including diabetes, chronic kidney disease, chronic iron deficiency anemia, ischemic heart disease, and valvular heart disease post-mitral valve replacement, was referred to PSCC with right heart failure and torrential TR.
She had already been hospitalised multiple times for heart failure and persistent ascites. Upon assessment, she was found to be unsuitable for percutaneous tricuspid edge-to-edge repair and deemed high-risk for surgical intervention. The echo showed mildly reduced LV function, mild pulmonary hypertension, and torrential severe tricuspid regurgitation with RV dysfunction.
She was offered the TricValve implantation, and the procedure was successful without any complications. The patient currently has a much improved quality of life and functional capacity with no further hospitalisations for heart failure.
